Oma's Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

     My salad dressing likes are few. I primarily enjoy a simple vinaigrette. This was one of my mother's staples, and I make it for the holidays. It takes some time, but is very much enjoyed by the entire family.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of fried bacon
  • 1/3 Cup Bacon Fat
  • 1/3 Cup Green Onions – Medium Chopped
  • 1/3 Cup Yellow Onions – Medium Chopped
  • 3/4 - Cup Water
  • 1/4 Cup Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg, Organic)
  • 1 Jigger Olive Oil – 1 Full Shot Glass
  • 1 Jigger Dry Sherry Wine – 1 Full Shot Glass
  • 1 Tblsp. Stone Ground or Dijon Mustard
  • 1–1/2 Tsp. Sea Salt
  • 1 Tblsp. Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. Course Ground Black Pepper
  • 3-4 Garlic Cloves – Medium Cut
  • 1 Tblsp. Of fresh Basil – Dried

Preparation

Preparation

  • 1 Lb.
  • Fry bacon until golden brown
  • Do not burn or allow bacon fat to smoke
  • Lay and drain bacon on paper towel
  • Let bacon cool and crisp
  • Break desired amount of crisped bacon into small 3/8” size pieces
  • Add dressing to salads and refrigerate

Mix all dressing ingredients in a large (4 cup) measuring cup or bowl.
